Charity Rakestraw is the author of Ministers and Masters: Methodism, Manhood, and Honor in the Old South (published as Charity R. Carney, LSU Press, 2011). She has taught or served in leadership positions in higher education for over eight years and currently holds the position of Project Manager for Program Development at Western Governors University. WGU is a non-profit, competency-based online university largely focused on serving non-traditional students. Rakestraw has written as a regular columnist for the Daily Sentinel, in Nacogdoches, Texas, and as a regular contributor to the Religion in American History blog (usreligion.blogspot.com), and as a contributor for the Huffington Post. She is currently researching and writing on the history of American megachurches.
